xFarm Technologies has acquired Brazil’s Sibium Analytics, extending the Swiss agricultural technology company’s coverage in sugarcane and biofuels. The transaction adds 8 million hectares to its platform. Financial terms were not disclosed.
AgFunderNews and AgNavigator reported the purchase on 15 September 2026. According to AgFunderNews, xFarm now covers 24 million hectares across more than 600,000 farms. This is its sixth acquisition in four years and its second Brazilian purchase within a year.
Sibium’s Sigma Digital uses geospatial remote sensing for crop mapping and risk assessment. Its Ambium Digital service covers environmental, social and governance reporting and traceability for sustainability certifications. Alongside those tools, a business intelligence layer converts field data into information for operational decisions.
Existing investors supported the acquisition, with additional backing through a BlackRock partnership, AgFunderNews reported. Remote sensing, connected hardware and supply chain analytics already form part of xFarm’s platform. Late in 2025, it released an AI agent that sends farmers insights through WhatsApp.
Chief executive Matteo Vanotti said xFarm aims to build “the data layer of global agriculture.” Sibium director Ronaldo Marani said, “We will be able to deliver even greater value to our customers and expand our solutions to new crops,” linking the transaction to broader crop coverage.
According to AgFunderNews, Sibium serves nine of Brazil’s largest sugarcane producers. Brazil accounts for roughly half of global sugarcane production and is the largest producer of sugarcane ethanol. The same outlet reported that new biofuel regulations are expected in 2027, placing the acquisition alongside anticipated changes in the sector’s regulatory requirements.
