Advice is only part of the job on a farm. Farmers Business Network (FBN) wants artificial intelligence to connect recommendations with decisions that can be carried out through its commercial platform, rather than offer isolated guidance about a particular task.

Announced in Chicago on 29 September 2026, its partnership with Google AI Futures Fund is intended to speed development of what FBN describes as agriculture’s first AI Context Engine for farmers. Financial terms were not disclosed. The planned engine would give task-specific agents an integrated view of a farm.

Most agricultural AI tools provide localized advice, according to FBN. Its proposed alternative is a 360-degree picture that allows agents to draw on the farm’s wider circumstances and connect their recommendations to executable commercial actions. The distinction is between telling a farmer what might help and linking that advice to something the farmer can do.

Google will supply early access to frontier models and expertise in model development. Against complex agricultural reasoning tasks, FBN will evaluate those models. Chief executive Diego Casanello said the engine would enable Norm, FBN’s existing AI system, and eventually third-party developers to build tools.

Jonathan Silber of Google AI Futures Fund said FBN “has established a decade of trust with hundreds of thousands of farmers in the US and Canada.” Cofounder Charles Baron said the company remained the custodian of farmers’ information. That places stewardship of the underlying data alongside the effort to build more capable agents.

Early versions are planned for this fall. The partnership supplies access to models and expertise; the proposed connection between farm context, advice and commercial action remains the product FBN is working to deliver.
