Azerbaijan’s experience in applying artificial intelligence (AI) in agriculture is becoming one of the leading models worldwide, Surkhay Novruzov, Advisor to the Minister of Agriculture, said on the second day of Baku Climate Action Week 2026 (BCAW 2026), Report informs.
“If we take a broad, high‑level view of Azerbaijan’s agricultural and AI policies, we see that our experience has already become one of the world’s advanced models. This is not only our opinion. International organizations – especially the Asian Development Bank (ADB), Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO), and leading consulting firms such as McKinsey & Company – support us in this project and bring our experience to international platforms. Even neighboring countries like Moldova, Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, and others have shown interest, and we have already shared our practices with them,” he noted.
Novruzov explained that the project began two years ago with hybrid modules based on traditional digital models: “Over two years, we upgraded our models and integrated more AI. Today, even a farmer with basic digital knowledge can easily manage their farm. This goes beyond climate or satellite data. Farmers can apply AI to daily management tasks. With access to agentic AI technologies, they can connect their computer data to the system and delegate management. For example, they can input fertilizer and pesticide stocks into ChatGPT or a cloud system, integrate climate data – even open‑source climate data – into a unified platform. The system can then provide precise early warnings about pest or disease risks over the next 3–4 days and suggest how to respond with available resources.”
